Balsamic Salad with Candied Pecans

• 1 cup(s) pecans
• 4 tbsp sugar, divided
• 1 tsp chili powder
• 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper
• 2 medium shallot(s), chopped
• 2 clove(s) garlic, minced
• 1/2 cup(s) balsamic vinegar
• 1/2 cup(s) olive oil
• 3 tbsp mustard
• 3 tbsp honey
• 1 package(s) lettuce spring mix
• 1 can(s) manadarin oranges, drained
• 1 pint(s) strawberries, sliced
• 4 oz blue cheese, crumbled

1. Make spiced pecans: Soak pecans in sugar water ( 1/4 c warm water and 2 T of sugar)for 10 minutes. Drain. Toss pecans with 2 T sugar, chili powder, and crushed red pepper. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, stirring after 5 minutes.

2. In a food processor, make dressing by blending shallots, garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey,and mustard. Salt and pepper to taste.

3. Toss mixed greens, manadarin, oranges, strawberries, blue cheese, and spiced pecans.
